The wine exhibits an elegant aroma woven from notes of wild berries, raspberries, white pepper and almonds. The taste of the wine is soft, silky, with hints of raspberries, almonds, wild berries and herbs, with balanced acidity and a long, persistent finish. The wine “Boggina C” gets its name from the hill of the same name on which the Sangiovese used to make this cuvée is grown. The vineyard on the hill was built in 1950 by the grandfather of the current owner of Petrolo, Luca Sanjusta. Fermentation of the wort takes place in neutral containers, and malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques and large oak barrels. The aging of the wine in French barriques, a third of which are renewed annually, lasts 16-18 months.
