The generous, rich aroma of the wine is filled with airy notes of cherry, coquettishly complemented by hints of flowers, spices, licorice, garden herbs and tobacco. The taste of the wine is rich, firm, durable, perfectly structured, with a velvety texture, fine-grained tannins, notes of blackberry, black currant, cherry, sweet cherry, spices, pine and iron. Fresh acidity makes the long aftertaste lively and bright. Ca’ Marcanda, “Magari”, is a rich, full-bodied, generous Super Tuscan wine that offers a surprisingly subtle side of the three very strong grape varieties that make up the blend: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The name of the wine “Magari” translated from Italian means “if only this were true!”. In Italy, this expression is often used to express one’s desire and hope for a brighter future. The ideal combination of white rocky soil (terre blanche) and dark clay soil (terre brune) creates excellent conditions for the cultivation of grapes with very vibrant characteristics. When producing wine, each variety is fermented separately. Mixing occurs after the end of malolactic fermentation. After this, the wine is aged for 14 months in barriques and at least 6 months in bottles.
