The aftertaste impresses with its length and elegance. “Yeraz” is an exceptional drink, not just wine, but a real journey into the world of history and traditions. Wine “Yeraz”, which means “dream”, has a whole philosophy: a dream of reviving ancient wine culture, forgotten places and autochthonous grapes, as well as faith in the potential of the incredible terroir of Yeghegnadzor. “Yeraz” is made from ancient Armenian Areni grapes, collected from unique vines over a hundred years old, which are grown at an altitude of 1600 meters. Surviving against all odds and possessing great tenacity, they produce small, beautiful harvests. The wine is fermented in rough concrete tanks using only natural yeasts. Then, according to centuries-old tradition, “Yeraz” is aged for a long time (almost 24 months) in local amphorae of various sizes, some of which are buried deep in the ground and sealed with wax. Thus, the intensity of the aroma and the true varietal purity of the wine are preserved. In addition to amphoras, large uncharred barrels are used, aging in which softens the tannins. After maturation, the wine is very easily filtered and bottled, in which it is aged for another year.
