Tignanello is an iconic Tuscan wine that blends classic Sangiovese with a bold twist. In the glass, it sparkles with an intense ruby-red color with violet highlights. The aroma is complex and enveloping: ripe plum and blackberry intertwine with candied orange peel, then unfolds notes of dark chocolate, caramel, and licorice, and in the finish, subtle, sweet tobacco nuances emerge. On the palate, Tignanello is rich, elegant, and incredibly layered. Sweet, vibrant tannins gently lead to a long, lingering finish. Tart, fruity notes of red currant give way to hints of tea leaf, rose, white pepper, licorice, nutmeg, clove, and freshly chopped mint. The wine develops slowly, gradually gaining depth and becoming truly sensual and intoxicating, all the while maintaining the signature freshness and mineral energy of Sangiovese. Tignanello pairs beautifully with red meat, game, and aged cheeses. It is one of the first “Super Tuscan” wines and the first Sangiovese aged in barrels. It is produced only in the best years from a unique plot in the heart of Chianti Classico.
