Description
The wine’s flavor is round, full, and balanced, with fruity tones and a long finish. The wine has a refined aroma, in which notes of ripe pear intertwine with vanilla and almond nuances. The Chassagne-Montrachet vineyard—one of the most famous in the Côte des Blancs—is located south of the Côte de Beaune, near the town of Beaune. The name derives from the Celtic “cassanos,” meaning oak trees, and “rachet,” meaning dry, barren land—a paradoxical combination given the richness of this appellation’s wines. Drouhin’s plot is located on a gentle slope and covers 2.26 hectares. The vineyard soils consist of marl and limestone. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, 25% of which are new.
