Description
“Shunch” is a wine with a philosophy and meaning embedded in its very name. Translated from Armenian, “shunch” means “inhalation”—the breath of life, the presence of the soul and the divine spark in every moment. It’s no coincidence that the Bible in Armenian is called “Astvatsashunch”—”the breath of God.” This idea of depth and vitality is subtly reflected in the character of the wine itself. In the glass, “Shunch” reveals a noble cherry-red color. The aroma is fresh and refined: floral notes smoothly transition to ripe cherry nuances, followed by a distinct yet subtle blackberry accent. The bouquet is pure, lively, with a sense of air and movement. On the palate, the wine is delicate, medium-bodied, and harmonious. Areni displays its signature vigor—pronounced yet refined tannins create structure without weighing down the texture. The finish is vibrant and expressive, with hints of spice, black pepper, and subtle spices that linger long and elegantly. The wine is easy to drink, yet leaves a lasting impression. Produced in the Armavir region, “Shunch” reflects a modern take on the indigenous Areni grape—lively, sincere, and meaningful. This wine pairs well with meat dishes, local cuisine, and warm evenings when you crave not just wine, but the sensation of truly “inhaling.”
