Description
The wine has a dark ruby color. The luxurious, refined aroma of the wine reveals shades of ripe black fruit, leather, violet flowers and exotic spices. The taste of the wine is full, silky, with notes of cherries, black currants and anise, enveloping tannins and a persistent finish. “Chateau Teyssier”, first released in 1994, is the main wine of John Malthus. It is sold in more than 50 countries around the world, in 20 US states, and is also served in first and business class on American Airlines. The harvest for this wine is collected from the estate’s own vineyards. Chateau Teyssier’s world-renowned wine is clear proof that John Malthus can produce great wines not only from tiny plots of land, but also in larger quantities. The vines are grown on clay soil overlying a layer of limestone. The berries for this wine are hand-picked from 7 vineyards with a total area of 20.5 hectares. After fermentation and maceration, which are carried out at low temperatures, follows malolactic fermentation, carried out in new French oak barrels. Aging 99% of the wine is carried out on the lees and lasts 6 months, and the remaining 1% is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Between 8,500 and 12,000 cases of wine are produced annually.
