Description

The wine has a deep cherry-red color with a purplish hue. The enticing aroma of the wine beckons with warm notes of vanilla, licorice, pepper, and cloves, evolving against a backdrop of bright and juicy tones of ripe cherry and blackberry. The wine is characterized by a full, expressive, generous, and rich taste with fruity-spicy accents, elegant tannins, fresh acidity, and a prolonged aftertaste. “Koor” Red is a dry wine produced from – Areni and Sireni grapes. The grapes are cultivated in the Vayots Dzor region, on a unique soil that combines volcanic sedimentary rocks and limestone. The predominant Areni grape in the blend imparts elegance, finesse, and fruitiness to the wine. Areni is well-balanced with the more tannic Sireni grape, which lends the wine a robust structure.

The name of the wine pays tribute to Armenian river and wine craftsmanship. The label depicts a scene from the book of the Greek historian Herodotus “Histories” (Chapter 194). It illustrates how Armenian merchants traveled from Armenia to Babylon along the Euphrates River in boats made of wood and animal skins, with barrels made of palm wood filled with wine. These boats were called “kur” (or “koor”).
