The beautiful fruity aroma of the wine combines notes of blueberries and plums with subtle spicy nuances of oak. The wine has a generous taste, red raspberry and cherry fruits are supported by ripe, round tannins, ending with nuances of cedar and oak, leading into the finish. “Koonunga Hill” Shiraz is one of Australia’s favorite Shiraz wines. To create the wine, premium grapes are selected from several of the best vineyards in South Australia, but a significant portion of the harvest comes from the Barossa Valley. The berries are selected to maintain the continuity of quality, style and Penfolds philosophy, which is to create quality and affordable wine. After fermentation, the wine is aged for several months in American and French oak barrels. The wine has excellent structure and length and is ready both for drinking at a young age and for storage for further development in the bottle.
